variety of sugar loaded foods

Do you have a hidden snack drawer at the office?

As a dental hygienist, we had an entire room of snacks! Yeah, you read that right – I’m letting you in on a huge secret! In my 43 years as a dental hygienist, I will tell you we ate a ton of sugary snacks at the office!

You know how it is – the staff brings in everything from leftover candy and weekend leftovers so they aren’t tempted to eat it at home – it’s such a perfect solution to get rid of the goodies, after all! Then, our favorite patients stop at the donut shop and bring us donuts and muffins on their way to their appointment. Now it’s the holidays, and the referral partners always send us cookies, cakes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and jellybeans (which clock in with 28 grams of sugar for 35 tiny beans! Yikes!)

I know we tell you not to eat sugar, and here we are, sneaking it into the breakroom. It’s so wrong. . . but we think we are “safe” by brushing and flossing after devouring these tempting goodies.

BUT – here’s the BIGGER problem:

Sugar affects so much more than just our teeth! It is a huge factor in belly fat, which increases our risk of disease and zaps our energy! Sugar also creates cravings for more sugar. It not only tastes good, but it makes us feel good by giving us a quick energy boost! That’s why it’s so hard to stop at one donut or a handful of M&M’s.

How do I know all about this? I was that person – I could quickly eat a whole bag of Twizzlers – and forget about chocolate – an entire bag of M&Ms or Hershey kisses was no problem!

Today, they have no appeal. Sure, I’ll eat cake at a birthday party or a piece of pie on occasion, BUT – I don’t crave it or need to have it. Sometimes I don’t even like the flavor! These are the same results my clients feel when they start to swap higher-sugar foods for lower-sugar foods. Foods that they once loved now taste too sweet or artificial.

Today my clients are like me – they eat whatever they want, stay at their perfect weight, have tons of energy, and don’t feel the need to snack. We all eat real foods from local stores and restaurants with no deprivation. We get to choose which foods make us feel good. We will never diet again – and you can live like this, too!

The plan I offer is not a quick fix, but it is a sustainable fix meant to last a lifetime – your lifetime.

New habits are good choices you make daily.
Don’t know where to start? I got you!
